Hello everyone! 

 

My name is Fatima Gonzalez and it is a pleasure to be part of the SMHS counseling & guidance team. 

 

I was born here in Santa Maria and raised in Guadalupe by my wonderful parents. I am the oldest of 3 daughters. I graduated from Righetti High School in 2010 and then attended UCSB where I received my Bachelor's Degrees in Sociology and Chicana/o Studies. I took time off of school to gain experience in the education field. My first job was at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where I worked with middle school and high school students teaching them about their post-secondary options. I then returned to my alma mater (UCSB) and became the college coordinator for the Early Academic Outreach Program at Pioneer Valley High School. I received my Master's Degree in School Counseling from Brandman University and became a school counselor, my dream job. I saw my first graduating class in 2022 at PV. I married my high school sweetheart, and we have a beautiful daughter named Anahi.

 

I am honored to be here at SMHS to continue working for the community that I love, doing what I love. I look forward to meeting you!
