WELCOME TO THE
SMHS COUNSELING PAGE
The Santa Maria High School Counseling and Guidance Team welcomes you to the 2022/2023 school year! Our counseling team is dedicated to provide the best services to all of our students during these times of school closure. As we begin the school year, we want you to know that we are here to serve you and to help you during these trying times.
Our team is made up of eight counselors assigned alphabetically by last name and by grade, a guidance secretary, two guidance technicians, and two College & Career Counselors. Collectively, our counseling and guidance staff will work alongside students and parents to engage students, foster achievement, and inspire excellence throughout their high school years. We look forward to assisting with your student’s academic, personal/social, and college/career needs.
Every student at Santa Maria High School is a lifelong learner who determines their own success, and perseveres in college, career, and life. They have the skills to navigate a diverse, ever changing global society while demonstrating social responsibility and cultural awareness.
The mission of the Santa Maria High School Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive, data-driven program through collaboration and partnership with students, parents, staff, and community members. By working as professional ethical change agents, we advocate challenging learning experiences for all students and establishing high expectations by promoting literacy, high order thinking, personal accountability, and social responsibility. The Santa Maria High School Counseling Program promotes social justice, equity, and access through a multi-tiered system of support. As a result, students will become culturally aware, productive citizens who achieve college/career success.
